Crystal Healing: Rhodonite

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Rhodonite is manganese silicate mineral with an opaque transparency. Rhodonite comes in shades that vary from pale pink to deep red. It has a vitreous lustre and is composed of other minerals such as calcite, iron, and magnesium. It has a triclinic crystal system and occurs in ores or as rounded crystals. Rhodonite means compassion and love.

Find Your Power

Pretty in pink, the Rhodonite Stone brings a flush of dark-hued shocking pink shades to light up your life. Sharing its pink colour scheme with that quiet time just before the dawn or with a wildflower meadow in spring bloom, it’s no wonder that one look at Rhodonite is enough to stir up all the pleasures of the heart. While the sister stone of Rhodochrosite is all about sending loving vibes to your soul and taking back space, the Rhodonite is all about putting yourself in a healthy healing place so you can send those loving vibes back out into the world and do your bit for the world at large. The rose-pink stone actually takes its name from Rhodon, the Greek word for Rose. It was first discovered in the 1790s in the remote Ural Mountains that ripple across Russia. Since then the pink coloured crystal has also been unearthed in India, Mexico, Sweden, Madagascar, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Canada, and the USA. Made up of manganese inosilicate and with swirling shadows of manganese oxide, it measures between a 5 and a 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. It’s a solid stone with a visible eye-catching strength – the Rhodonite isn’t one to shy away.

Like many rose-red and pink stones, Rhodonite is deeply connected to the heart chakra. For those who feel like they need a helping hand in overcoming the life traps of forgives, fear, compassion, and true open-hearted authentic and healthy love – this is the stone you need to bring lashings of peace and layers of healing vibrations into your life. With Rhodonite on side, we can occupy spaces free from the tangle of toxic relationships and we can bring an altruistic beauty back to our world. If Rhodonite sounds like the rare gem you need, keep on reading to find out more about this spectacular stone. Rhodonite Healing Properties Ripe with rich healing properties, those who welcome the rosy glow of Rhodonite into their world are sure to feel those walls around the heart space falling down. We all throw up walls of protection, some are healthy boundaries and some come from blockages or not holding trust in the universe. With Rhodonite on side, you can work to bring your heart to a place of purity and elegance and step out on the journey towards your higher truth. Anyone who has ever wanted to find the capacity to grow their love and give back to the world, Rhodonite is your centre.

Physical Healing Properties

While much of Rhodonite's power is attributed to its beautiful emotional and spiritual properties, that doesn’t mean it falls short when it comes to bringing a breath of fresh healing air to your body too. The Rhodonite crystal is softly invigorating and gifts you a strength you never knew you had. For those who feel their energy is drained (particularly after a strong emotional spell or after a bout of trauma) then Rhodonite’s soothing vibrations are enough to bring you back to life. Of course, it connects with the heart and circulatory system, keeping your ticker beating bright. The rose stone also sends energy to the endocrine system along with curing stomach ulcers, aiding digestion and helping with autoimmune diseases. It also helps the body heal from scarring and can take the sting out of insect bites.

Mental & Emotional Healing Properties

Healing emotional wounds and putting you on the pathway to complete unconditional love – when it comes to mental and emotional wellbeing this is where Rhodonite shines. For those who want to clear their heart of pain and bring down the barriers that may be holding them back, Rhodonite is ready to go to work on helping you dismantle anything that could be having a negative impact on your self-worth. All love starts with self-love and the more we are able to stand in the light of our own self-confidence and our own talents, the better equipped we can be to turn that love outwards and send it spiralling into the universe. If you have issues with abandonment or betrayal or anything that translates to unhealthy attitudes towards relationships, Rhodonite can be an amazing relationship counsellor to get your love life back on track. It’s a stone that encourages mutual understanding and the ability to embrace compromise from a place of pure and honest acceptance.

Metaphysical Properties

As mentioned, Rhodonite has a huge connection to the heart chakra. The heart chakra is where our love, trust, and ability to bring compassion comes from. As life can be brimming with hard knocks, it's our heart chakra that can often take the hit. We throw up walls, we shut down, and our trust levels diminish. When we work to clear the blockages that clog up the heart space, we may find ourselves healed and in harmony and able to bring about healthy levels of love both internally and externally. Those Rhodonite crystals that come swirled with plenty of darker patches also resonate strongly with the root chakra. This is our place of safety, its how we root into the earth beneath our feet and it all relates to our sense of security in the world. It goes without saying that as a stone of deep love, Rhodonite comes with more than a pinch of positivity. It brings joy and energy and a spark that can light up a room. If you feel like you need some added power in reducing the negative energy in your life then you can also pair Rhodonite with Sugilite for even more intense action.

Zodiac Birthstone

Rhodonite is one of those healing crystals here to bring light and love into everyone’s heart but as a birthstone it is beautifully suited to Taurus. Born in the spring, Taureans capture that balance of being bright and calm but also vibrant and ever ready to radiate new life. However, those born under the sign of Taurus can have a stubborn side and they can be quick to flare up in a temper – this doesn’t always bode well for relationships. With Rhodonite on your side, this gentle loving stone gets to work on bringing a sense of compassion along with solid foundations on which to grow the heart space. It teaches Taureans to love themselves and to remember that only by opening up can they grow to reach new places. Rhodonite is also an excellent zodiac stone for Geminis. This rescue stone can sweetly serve the ‘twin nature’ of the Gemini by inviting healing and balance back into their world. Gemini’s aren’t short of compassion and love but they can become giddy from it and as high empaths, sometimes they need a stone to direct all that mass of love in the right direction. Rhodonite can also be great for Virgos who also need a little more self-love to shake themselves of that perfectionist behaviour.

How to Use Rhodonite There are lots of ways to welcome Rhodonite into your life and to be smitten by its sweet yet strong character. What we love about this stone is the fact that it pays homage to the fact that life can be tough and doesn’t gloss over it but instead, ensures the heart is ripe for love and that generosity of spirit and strength of character always wins out. Whether you choose to place it in your room or to carry it with you in gemstone jewellery, Rhodonite is the rose on which hope grows.

Home & Office

Rhodonite is abundant in love which means that when you bring it into the home, it can shine that healing light into every corner. In Feng Shui, Rhodonite exudes balance. It is a stone that is all about balancing out the yin and yang energy – it helps us to understand when its time to sit in serenity and when its time to take action. But even when moving us to act, it does it from a place of loving compassion, ensuring that we are always thinking in fair and even terms. It’s this kind of energy that is truly well suited to mutually loving healthy relationships. If you want Rhodonite to strengthen the bonds between you and your partner, you could place it in the bedroom or any shared space where intimate conversations take place.

Jewellery

One of the best ways to get the most out of Rhodonite’s soothing style is to wear it as jewellery. Not only is the Rhodonite stone super pretty with its shades of pink, but by having it directly on your skin you can make the most of those bright and beautiful healing vibrations. Rhodonite bracelets perched close to the pulse will radiate love directly to the heart, putting your whole soul in complete humming harmony. If you are seeking stones that match the gentle loving energy of Rhodonite then you can choose to pair it with other pink stones like Rose Quartz or its sister stone Rhodochrosite. Rhodonite also works well when paired with Opal or the spiritual sass of Lapis Lazuli or Aventurine. For those wanting an extra layer of protection, you can also blend it with Tourmaline or Obsidian.

How to Cleanse Your Gemstone Keeping your Rhodonite cleansed and charged will help it to stay fresh-faced and fine-tuned for bringing its healing properties to the table. Rhodonite can be easily cleansed with a little soapy water and a soft cloth. It will also benefit from being held under a stream of water twice a month to discharge some old energy. By keeping it clean every now and then, you are washing away those old traumas and letting lightness return to the stone so its ever ready for the next soulful spring clean. Rhodonite can also be charged and infused with energy by keeping it in close proximity with Amethyst or placing it in a soft slant of morning light. The Rhodonite Stone is a sublime crystal for those who want to untangle themselves of inner conflict and radiate loving compassion. Being able to see the good in the world, to move forward with love, and to make decisions and choices built on beautiful energy is exactly what the world needs. When you radiate that love out into the universe it all adds up into spreading positive energy. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that magical movement?

Dressed in a white coloured linen tunic and wearing a heavy neck collar made out of gold, inlaid with amethyst gemstone, known for its healing and protective properties, standing tall, he takes a moment to clear his mind of any chaos. He enters the counsel room as a King should – magnificent in stature and striking in appearance.
